【World Bicycle Day | Healthy Taiwan, Everyone Rides】

Today is June 3rd – World Bicycle Day!

This globally recognized celebration, initiated by the United Nations, reminds us that bicycles are far more than just a sport or means of transportation. They are a powerful force for promoting health and embracing sustainable living.

This year's World Bicycle Day holds special significance in Taiwan. Led by Political Deputy Minister Chen Shih-chung, Taiwan's central government ministries—including the Ministry of Transportation and Communications, the Ministry of Health and Welfare, and the Ministry of Sports—have jointly launched the "Healthy Taiwan, Everyone Rides" campaign series. The initiative brings together 22 counties and cities across Taiwan and 31 cycling events in unified response. Starting from the North Coast and connecting nationwide sports activities, health promotion, tourism development, and local partnerships, the campaign demonstrates Taiwan's determination to champion a cycling culture.

The event attracted over 300 cycling enthusiasts from around the world, including international riders from Japan, Vietnam, Australia, and bicycle industry representatives, as well as hand-cranked tricycle groups coming together to celebrate. People of different nationalities and languages gathered because of bicycles, sharing friendship amid the sea breeze and pedal strokes, and showcasing to the world the charm of Taiwan as an "Bicycle Island."

Bicycles are more than just a sport—they are a lifestyle.

Bicycles are more than leisure—they are a vital force for health promotion.

Bicycles are more than personal choice—they are the best way to connect people with the land and explore the landscapes of our cities and communities.

Every pedal stroke is an investment in health; every ride is a conversation with the earth.

As more people choose to ride, we gain far more than physical fitness. We build more livable cities, a more sustainable environment, and richer landscapes in our lives.

Today, let us all mount our bicycles and experience Taiwan's beauty with our own two wheels, accumulating healthy energy with every pedal stroke.

See the scenery, ride towards health.

See Taiwan, ride towards the future.

Join us in embracing "Healthy Taiwan, Everyone Rides"—making cycling an integral part of our lives, and enjoying the freedom, health, and joy of exploration!
